To the SFWGA Membership

On behalf of the SFWGA Board of Directors, I want to thank the Members who attended the Summer Rules Change Caucus. We appreciate that you spent six hours of your time participating in a process that will improve our Circuit. We understand that sometimes improvement comes only with some growing pains, and at times it was not only grueling, but painful when we have to let go of the "that's the way we've always done it" perspective.

Some of the decisions, at first glance, made us uneasy for the financial welfare of the Contest Hosts as well as the Circuit in general. After some calculations and some budget shifting, as well as the finalization of the schedule in its reduced form, we feel very confident that we can keep costs down. So to the prospective Contest Hosts…. you will be fine! The schedule as is now stands will help reduce expenses and your related fees.

We also witnessed a new resurgence of long time instructors and some new faces that want to get involved on the Circuit level. We are thrilled at the prospect and we welcome the opportunity to work with you. We can't stress enough how happy we were to see the Membership really thinking through the issues, putting their affiliations aside, and really concentrating on what will be best for the Circuit and all our members. Thank you!

We have the opportunity to make a difference at the October Meeting by electing Advisory Board Members who are willing to make a commitment to the Circuit of their time, perspective, and knowledge. If you are willing to serve on the Advisory Board, if you are willing to put in the time to help this Circuit grow and stay competitive, then this is for you! We will post the positions on our site. Review them, see what feels like a good fit and go for it! "Thank you" to those that have already expressed interest and to those who are currently serving!

We also want to express our gratitude to Neil Jenkins, and his parent boosters for hosting the meeting. They provided snacks and drinks to the Membership and donated their time and facility to the SFWGA. Thank you!

So to wrap things up…. We will be experiencing a few policies in a new way this season, as well as keeping some of the current policies that work well for us. Mostly, we are excited by the process that allows everyone to have a voice! We are honored to serve you…. Thank you again for your participation….
